EFEC chairman message
Backed with an old historical culture and worldwide reputation in the production of classic furniture and antique reproduction, the Egyptian furniture industry stands proudly with a high promising vision towards the future.
The Egyptian Furniture sector is one of the rapidly developing sectors in Egypt, yet a challenging one, fraught with major uncertainties and risks. It is considered one of the most flourishing industrial sectors in Egypt that was able to multiply its exports 7 folds in only 5 years, while accommodating the furiously growing local market needs.
The sector embraces about 120,000 establishments and a highly productive around 1 million workforces 600,000 direct . These are some of the reasons it is considered one of the potential sectors that once focused on it can lead to solving unemployment problems directly.
At the Egyptian Furniture Export Council, we believe that success comes from a relentless effort and focus. These concepts are not only vital to the sector’s development, but also for sustainability. Throughout the past 8 years EFEC, the Egyptian Chamber of Wood Working and Furniture Industry (CWWFI) and other governmental entities are undergoing an aggressive plan to penetrate new markets. Not only this but also EFEC has a clear strategy in order to develop the perception of manufacturers towards design. The plan included organizing design management courses, seminars and design workshops where young designers worked closely with manufacturers. This aims to further integrate design into industry, and reach an output that meet the industry capacity and the market requirements.
Finally the Egyptian furniture industry has the capacity to expand dramatically in coming years. Still, this potential can only be realized with the support of government, the guidance of overseeing bodies and a broad collaboration among public and private participants
